
1st IUHS Research and Innovation Day: Celebrating Excellence in Research and Creativity
The inaugural IUHS Research and Innovation Day was a vibrant showcase of groundbreaking ideas, innovative solutions, and academic excellence, bringing together students and faculty from across the university to celebrate the spirit of inquiry and discovery.
The event featured three exciting categories: Oral Presentation, Poster Competition, and Innovation, each highlighting the diverse talents and research endeavors within IUHS.
Innovation Category:
Innovation took center stage with remarkable projects pushing the boundaries of creativity and practical application.
- 1st Position: The prestigious top spot was awarded to the Crimson Care Model, developed by the talented team of Unzela Khurshid, Yashfa, Quratulain, and Aisha from Indus College of Physiotherapy. Their innovative model impressed the judges with its originality and impact.
- 2nd Position: The Piezoelectric Model, a collaborative effort by Ali Batsami, Saima Saira, Junaid Alishba, Dawood Qadeer, and Anoosha from Indus College of Medical Technology and Allied Health Sciences, showcased inventive use of technology with promising applications.
- 3rd Position: The Step Strong Matt Model, created by Mumasil Fatima and Kisa Zehra from Indus College of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, captured attention for its unique design and potential benefits.
Poster Competition:
The poster competition was divided into two subcategories: students and faculty, each demonstrating a wealth of knowledge and research creativity.
Student category:
- 1st Place: Abdul Razak, Aihtisham Parvez, Siraj Muhammad, Faraz Mazhar, Misbah Shaheen, Maryle Jane from ICONM won the first prize for their paper titled Understanding the Effects of Simulation Based Learning on Nursing Students perceived Clinical Performance .
- 2nd Place: Tahajjud Samar Usmani, Abdul Rauf, Sameen Akhlaq & Syed Qasim Rizvi from ICMAH earned second place for their insightful work. Their topic was Assessment of Knowledge, Attitude and Practices Regarding COPD management among Tertiary care Healthcare providers in Karachi, Pakistan.
- 3rd Place: Tooba Ali, Mahnoor Qasim, Maria Siddiqui & Maryam Mansoor from ICPR were recognized for their innovative poster titled Habits of Donning Head Scarf Correlation Between Neck Range of Motion, Headache, and Cervical Pain Among Female Students.
Faculty Category: - 1st Place: Muhammad Fareeduddin, Javeria Aijaz, Zaira Rehman, Saima Ali, Saba Shahid, Ali Akbar,impressed with their outstanding research presentation from Pediatriatics. Their topic was CFTR Profiles and Phenotypic Associations In Pakistani Children and Adults with Suspected Cystic Fibrosis.
- 2nd Place: Ahmer Hamid, Zoreen Shafaq, Sadia Imran, Nida Zia, Sarah Bano, Saima Amin from Pediatric Oncology secured the second position with their insightful poster titled Building Capacity to Retinoblastoma Care Through the Implementation of the Pediatric Oncology Facility Integrated Local Evaluation (Profile-Rb) Tool: A Low Middle Income Country Experience.
- 3rd Place: Munawwar, Dr. Iman & Dr.Tooba Shereen from ICFMPH were honored with third place. Their topic was Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices of Practicing Dental Surgeons Towards Forensic Dentistry
- Oral Presentation:
The oral presentation category highlighted clear communication of research and scientific rigor.
- 1st Place: Fahad Ahmed, Shaista Emad, Rizwana Sanaullah Waraich, Rubina Ghani, Khadija Shah, Nazish Nizar Ali, Shakila Qazi, Samina Jibran & Atiya Rahman Rohilla from ICMAH captured the judges’ attention with their articulate and impactful presentation titled Investigating Neuron-Specific Enolase as a Diagnostic Marker for Early Detection of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy in Patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.
- 2nd Place: Bashir Ahmed Khan, Dr. Altaf Ahmed, Muhammad Azam, Emad Chritopher, Dr. Ghulam Qadir Pathan from Pediatric Oncology demonstrated strong research and presentation skills while presenting their research titled Improving Pediatric Oncology Services with Virtual Bed Management: A FOCUS-PDSA Initiative.
- 3rd Place: Hamna Hammad Hanif, Areeba Nida, Sidra Abdul Jabbar & Sabiha Anis from the Immunology Department secured third place with their compelling presentation titled Validation of clinical features associated with rare ANA patterns in our local population
The 1st IUHS Research and Innovation Day was not just a competition but a celebration of knowledge, innovation, and collaboration. It provided a platform for budding researchers and seasoned faculty to come together, share ideas, and inspire the university community.
This landmark event was expertly organized by the Department of Health Professions Education, along with Communication and Publication Subcommittee-SRC, whose efforts ensured a seamless and inspiring experience for all participants.
