The examination cell of HPE is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art support for the planning, execution, and post hoc phases of all examinations being conducted under the umbrella of IUHS.

Message from the Head of the Department
The Department of Health Professions Education at Indus University of Health Sciences is an academic and administrative department and was established at IUHS in 2020. The department aims to promote an educational environment that provides high-quality educational services based on evidence-based literature in medical education. Its primary goal is to train healthcare professionals in alignment with the present demands of society and community needs to meet the challenges in the healthcare delivery system. The department facilitates this by providing services for educational enhancement and promoting quality improvements. The department supports all academic and research activities to serve as a comprehensive educational resource.

Departmental Activities
- Faculty development workshops: The department regularly conducts various workshops for the training of the faculty in soft and hard skills. These include teaching & learning methods, assessment methods, leadership, communication skills, etc.
- Review of questions: All the questions submitted for the examinations are reviewed thoroughly by the medical educationists for content and process to ensure quality.
- Maintenance of Q-bank: All questions approved by the HPE are securely stored in the Q-bank of the examination cell.
- Conduction of examinations: The examination cell of HPE is responsible for the conduction of all exams including entry tests, mid-terms and end-of-term exam.
- Issuance of results: The examination cell ensures the best practices for the compilation and issuance of results of all exams conducted through them.
- Post-hoc analysis of exams: The examinations conducted by IUHS are subjected to post-hoc analysis by the department to identify patterns, trends, and potential areas for improvement, thereby enhancing the overall quality and effectiveness of the assessment process.
- Research activities: The department is actively involved in various research projects and regularly publishes and presents its work.
- Curriculum review: The curriculum of all undergraduate courses is reviewed regularly to ensure compliance with the national and international standards. The department also helps to achieve the alignment between the objectives, teaching strategies and assessment methods.
- Study guide: The semester-wise study guides are developed and reviewed by the collaboration of HPE and the faculty.
- Policy development: The department is actively involved in the development and review of the policies pertaining to the university.
- Student Support & Development: Orientation sessions are conducted by HPE faculty, for new students to introduce them to the study guides and study skills.
- Conferences & Symposia: The department actively participates in organizing and attending conferences and symposia related to the field of Health Professions Education.
Key Achievements
- Organization of the 1st IUHS Research and Innovation Day: This stands as a landmark achievement of the Department of Health Professions Education at IUHS. The event, themed “Fostering a Culture of Research and Innovation in Health Sciences,” brought together faculty, students, and researchers to celebrate and showcase scholarly excellence. By successfully conceptualizing and executing this inaugural event, the department demonstrated leadership in advancing the institution’s research culture and establishing a sustainable platform for innovation and professional growth in the health sciences.
- ASME Institutional Membership: Through the efforts of HPE, IUHS has become a member of the Association of Medical Education, which is a leading international organization dedicated to promoting excellence, innovation, and scholarship in medical and health professions education.
- Certificate in Health Professions Education: 3 cohorts of the ‘Certificate in Health Professions’ course have been completed to date with a total of 63 graduates. The uniqueness of this course lies in the special focus on the contextual needs of the Allied Health Sciences educators. The graduates of CHPE have achieved personal and professional excellence through this journey, as evidenced by their growth within and outside the institute.
- Continuous Professional Development Workshops: The department has conducted more than 50 workshops to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of faculty, students, and residents.
- MRCGP End-of-Training Examination: The examination cell of HPE has conducted large-scale, multi-centered examinations at the end of structured family medicine training programs following the pattern of MRCGP international Theory and OSCE.
- Entrance Tests: The examination cell of HPE has successfully executed multiple rounds of undergraduate and post-graduate entrance exams, catering to a large number of applicants.
