Hands-on training for DHIPC Batch-008 successfully concluded!

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the DHIPC-008 Hands-On Training. This training was conducted during the third semester of the Hospital Infection Prevention & Control program’s one-year diploma. Being the only program of its kind, it was only offered by the Indus Hospital across four of its strategic centers nationwide:

  1. Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) – Main Campus, Karachi
  2. IHHN-RTEH Campus, Muzaffargarh
  3. IHHN-QF NST-SMP Campus, Lahore
  4. Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad

The duration of this training was one week, with total number of 165 enrolled candidates from across the country!

The hands-on sessions provided real-time, practical experience in infection control practices. This included proper PPE use, hand hygiene, disinfection protocols, and outbreak containment strategies. The training was led by expert facilitators and aligned with international IPC standards. Candidates also engaged in a structured surveillance and audit strategy involving daily observations, standardized checklists, and real-time feedback. Departmental visits also added depth to the learning experience. These were visits to:

Operating Theaters (OT): Focused on sterile techniques, surgical site infection prevention, and environmental cleaning.

CSSD: Covered sterilization processes, autoclaving, and sterile supply management.

Pharmacy: Emphasized antimicrobial stewardship, safe storage, and medication handling.

Waste Holding Areas & Laundry: Demonstrated proper waste segregation methods and compliance with regulatory standards.

This program continues to empower frontline healthcare workers with the tools and confidence to lead infection prevention efforts within their institutions, ultimately improving patient safety and care quality.
