Teaching Methodologies

  • The course follows a blended, affinity-based learning model delivered through the Moodle learning management system. Structured reading materials, interactive videos, and recorded lectures are provided to build strong theoretical foundations in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
  • Live Zoom lectures and interactive sessions are conducted to reinforce concepts, clarify guidelines, and promote engagement with instructors. These sessions include real-time discussions, case walkthroughs, and hands-on coding practice to strengthen practical application skills.
  • Learning assessment is supported through Moodle quizzes and assignments based on real clinical coding scenarios. Practical exercises, continuous feedback, and applied case-based learning ensure competency in accurate code assignment and adherence to international coding standards.

Scope of Practice

Graduates of this course can independently review clinical documentation, assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient records, ensure compliance with coding guidelines, support reimbursement and quality reporting, collaborate with clinicians for documentation clarification, and contribute to ICD coding of inpatient charts, audits, research, and population health data analysis.
